Key Responsibilities

The Assistant Chief Counsel for Acquisition Law provides executive direction and oversight for all aspects of legal services supporting the agency's activity on services related to the agency's acquisition programs and associated processes, including the multi-billion-dollar modernization of the Nation's air transportation network and supporting infrastructure.

The Assistant Chief Counsel leads and manages a geographically dispersed legal organization, establishing objectives and strategies; directing approximately 5 subordinate managers, 30 attorneys and paralegals; allocating resources and workload; evaluating performance; and fostering employee development and organizational effectiveness.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Provides executive leadership and strategic oversight of FAA acquisition law programs, directing the development and execution of legal policies, programs, and initiatives and ensuring legal sufficiency and alignment with FAA and national priorities.

Renders authoritative legal opinions and interpretations of FAA acquisition authority and policies, ensuring consistency with applicable statutes, Executive Orders, and Department of Transportation and FAA policies.

Provides expert legal advice and counsel on complex acquisition law matters, including contract formation and administration, intellectual property, procurement integrity, debarment, real estate, cybersecurity, C-UAS, and other laws and regulations affecting FAA acquisitions.

Serves as a senior legal advisor and subject matter expert to FAA and external stakeholders, providing strategic counsel to the Chief Counsel, Deputy Chief Counsel, FAA Administrator, Department of Transportation, other Federal agencies, Congress, and private-sector stakeholders on matters affecting FAA acquisition law programs, including responses to significant aviation threats and incidents.

educational institution in terms of equivalence to a degree acquired at an American college or university. A copy of the evaluation results must be included, otherwise your foreign education will not be considered. Education: Must have earned at least a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school; and Bar Membership: Must be an active bar member in good standing (as defined by the relevant bar) of any U.S.

jurisdiction, state, territory, the District of Columbia, or the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.
