Job Summary

The Supervisory Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) supports the Primary Care/Patient Aligned Care Team Nurse Manager (NM) in overseeing operations of a nursing unit. This position consist of direct patient care and supervisory responsibilities, fosters team development, compliance with standards of clinical practice, and serves as a liaison between staff and leadership.

This role combines clinical proficiency with leadership and considered part of the succession plan for future NM positions.

Key Responsibilities

Responsible for the direction and oversight of specific orientation, training, development of staff, and evaluation of individual staff performance. Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team to remove barriers and implement new evidence-based cutting-edge programs/processes. Provides coverage for other ANMs as needed and supports the NM with the operation of their designated unit(s).

Exercises the authority to direct work, assign duties, evaluate employee performance, recommend employee awards, approve or deny leave, recall employees to duty, propose discipline, and to adjust their grievances, or to effectively recommend such proposed discipline or grievance adjustments for employees under their direct supervision. Serves as the first line supervisor of nursing personnel in the patient care area.

Provides input into performance of employees with the final evaluation completed by the NM. Assisting with making recommendations for selection of candidates for employment. Contributes to the development of care delivery models and environmental design, ensuring evidence-based, accessible, affordable, and equitable patient care. Promotes a workplace positively to achieve the organization's vision and mission.

Has a 50 percent clinical component that may be spread across any of the areas of Nursing service.

Telework: Ad-hoc Virtual: This is not a virtual position. Preferred experience: Primary care or outpatient setting experience within the past 5 years. Assistant Nurse Manager experience or formal nursing supervisory experience within the last 3 years. Leadership experience should include knowledge and leading of nursing operations, staffing, metrics and performance improvement with documented outcomes.
