Key Responsibilities
As the Assistant Surgeon General for Personnel and Resources, the incumbent is a key leader responsible for directing and coordinating strategic plans, execution, and decision-making for the Air Force Medical Service's (AFMS) future concepts and capabilities.
This role involves driving strategic engagement on Military Health System (MHS) development, overseeing readiness and healthcare programs, and advising senior Air Force, Space Force, and Department of Defense leaders on the health of all personnel and beneficiaries. The position provides oversight for personnel plans, resourcing policies, and the strategic planning and budgeting processes, representing AFMS interests at executive-level boards and councils.
Furthermore, the incumbent shares responsibility for the executive leadership and management of the AF/SG staff and Directorates, ensuring the establishment and maintenance of high professional and technical standards. This executive provides direction over a global organization, ensuring mission requirements are met through the integration of activities that have inter-agency, international, and domestic impacts.
Requirements & Education
Education: A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is desired. A master's or advanced degree in Healthcare or Business Administration or related fields such as Public Administration or Strategy is highly desired.
