Job Summary
There is one Assistant U.S. Attorney (Criminal Division) position that will be located in Beaumont, TX. This position are being announced as AD 0905-21/29 depending on years of experience.
Key Responsibilities
Please note: This is a term position not-to-exceed September 30, 2029, subject to availability of funds. This position may be extended, or made permanent, without further advertising.
The Criminal Division prosecutes a wide range of federal criminal matters, including criminal immigration, terrorism, narcotics distribution, illegal firearm possession, violent crime, child exploitation/child pornography, human trafficking, transnational organized crime, complex securities and fraud investigations, health care fraud, and public corruption. The Division also prosecutes violent crime and other offenses. The Assistant U.S.
Attorneys hired for these positions will primarily prosecute drug trafficking offenses and criminal immigration offenses and may prosecute other types of cases as needed. Duties that may be performed include, but are not limited to: Partnering with federal, state, and local law enforcement to manage criminal investigations and prosecutions brought in the federal courts in the Eastern District of Texas. Advising federal agents on questions of law and Departmental policy.
Recommending charging decisions and proposing dispositions with regard to assigned cases. Researching and drafting all legal pleadings and being prepared to try cases in federal court. Investigating and pursuing asset forfeiture related to prosecutions. Overseeing and coordinating the preparation of litigation assignments for legal support staff.
Residency Requirements: Assistant United States Attorneys generally must reside in the district to which he or she is appointed or within 25 miles thereof. See 28 U.S.C. 545 for district-specific information.
