The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma is seeking experienced, motivated attorneys to join our Civil Division. This announcement is used to fill immediate vacancies with multiple cut-off dates, and may be used to fill other permanent appointments and vacancies. This announcement is open thru Wednesday December 16, 2026. First cutoff Tuesday September 22, 2026, and as needed until positions are filled or cutoff date is met.

Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSAs) in the Civil Divison are responsible for legal research and writing, directing investigations, case development, and case presentation and resolution. Defensive practice areas include personal injury and wrongful death, employment discrimination, constitutional torts, medical malpractice, and immigration.
Affirmative practice areas include the investigation and prosecution of civil actions under statutes such as the False Claims Act, Controlled Substances Act, and Americans with Disabilities Act. Our Civil Division represents the United States, its agencies, officers, and employees in civil actions in the Eastern District of Oklahoma.
To be an effective Civil AUSA, the successful candidate must possess excellent communication and organizational skills and the ability to work closely with federal, state, local and tribal agencies. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress. Residency Requirements: Assistant United States Attorneys generally must reside in the district to which he or she is appointed or within 25 miles thereof.
