You will serve as a Budget Analyst with Office of the Secretary of Interior. This position is located within the Department of the Interior, office of the Secretary, Assistant Secretary Policy Management & Budget, Budget and Reporting Operations, WASHINGTON, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA. Salary with locality pay will vary based on current duty station. GS-12 - GS-13 range: $102,415-$158,322. First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the step 1 rate.

Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following: Assists in the development and review of budget instructions, guidance, and schedules. Supports improvements to Department-wide budget processes through standardized procedures and tools. Participates in preparing budget estimates, narrative justifications, and exhibits. Analyzes budget execution data to track obligations, expenditures, and trends.
Assists with funds allocation and apportionment processes. Contributes to analytical materials supporting leadership decision-making. Provides analytical support for materials prepared for OMB, Congress, and leadership. Assists in reviewing testimony, hearing questions, and briefing papers. Communicates with bureau budget offices to gather necessary data. Provides guidance to program staff on budget procedures and reporting requirements.
Conducts analyses of program requests, budget execution patterns, and resource requirements. Reviews program performance and financial practices for alignment with budget guidance. Evaluates resource utilization and identifies potential efficiencies. Assists in preparing analytical summaries and management briefings. The position is suitable for telework and the incumbent may be allowed to telework with supervisory approval.
This position does not allow substituting education for experience.

The posted pay range is $102415 – $158322/yr.
