Job Summary

The Smithsonian Institution is the world's largest museum, education, and research complex, with 21 museums and the National Zoo. This position is located in the Business, Innovation & Technology office of Finance Administration, at the National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute (NZCBI), Under Secretary for Science and Research, Smithsonian Institution (SI).

Key Responsibilities

The Budget Analyst is responsible for a range of functions within financial management, including, but not limited to, budget formulation, budget execution, administrative management, systems accounting, and serving as a technical advisor. In this position, you will: Conduct budget formulation by performing detailed analyses of annual funding requirements to estimate the internal operational needs of the program.

Analyze and evaluate the budget by monitoring expenditures, preparing analytical reports, and recommending remedial actions as necessary. Develop cost data reports for assigned programs while working closely with the Budget Officer. Develop policies, procedures, and guidance for the execution of budget formulation and overall financial management.
