This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment.
Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.
The Clinical Lab Scientist (CLS) performs different testing complexities in a variety of laboratory specialties and monitor, asses and correct problems identified in the pre-analytic, analytic, and post analytic process. Duties include but are not limited to: Evaluates the suitability of the specimen for analysis, requesting new specimen if determined to be unusable.
Prepares specimens for analysis, ensuring that the physiologic state of the specimen properties are maintained. Responsible for documenting corrective actions regarding specimen problems, maintaining necessary documentation for specimen quality monitors.
Conducts calibration on laboratory equipment, which may include analyzers pipettes, thermometers, refrigerators, incubators, timers, or any laboratory critical equipment, standardizes, adjusts, correlates, and maintains instruments. Evaluates the validity of data relation to the test system and accepted assay procedures. Correlates quantitative data with patient data (i.e.; history, medications) to verify results.
Work Schedule: 12:00 AM to 8:00 AM; 4 PM to 12 AM Sunday through Saturday (Will cover holidays and emergency situations as per schedule.)
