Job Summary

These positions are with the U. S. Department of Labor, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) San Francisco Region. They are in the Phoenix Area Office, Oakland Area Office, San Diego Area Office, Las Vegas Area Office, Portland Area Office or Kent Area Office. The selectee will be expected to report to one of the assigned offices listed above; this is not a remote position. This position is inside the bargaining unit.

Key Responsibilities

The major duties for this position include but are not limited to the following: Describes and explains OSHA national programs and policies to the general public, associations, etc. Promotes voluntary compliance; keeps the public aware of changes in the safety and occupational health field; makes speeches, serves on panels at seminars, conferences, and safety and health council meetings.

Plans, develops, and implements the Area Office external training and education program, providing for or personally conducting outreach sessions on new standards, directives, and other topics of current interest, both independently and in conjunction with stakeholders (such as employer and employee organizations). The program is designed to enhance compliance assistance activities and to impact workplace conditions of targeted populations.

Develops and maintains liaison with agency stakeholders. Represents OSHA AO at meetings of labor organizations, trade and industry associations, and other groups interested in occupational safety and health. Serves as a resource for such stakeholders within the AO jurisdiction on various agency programs or local initiatives. Prepares responses to Congressional inquiries regarding local compliance assistance efforts and issues.

Aids in identifying areas of intervention based on analysis of data and needs assessments, recommends intervention strategies, program evaluation and impact measures. Collaborates with the OSHA Training Institute (OTI), Technical Support (including SLTC), the National Office, and other Compliance Assistance Specialists to identify existing training and compliance assistance materials and develop original materials as needed.

Any applicant falsely claiming an academic degree from an accredited school will be subject to actions ranging from disqualification from federal employment to removal from federal service. If your education was completed at a foreign college or university, you must show comparability to education received in accredited educational institutions in the United States and comparability to applicable minimum coursework requirements for this position.
