This position is located at Northern Navajo Medical Center, Shiprock, NM, Laboratory Department. The primary purpose of this position is to provide full-performance level diagnostic imaging in computed tomography (CT). The incumbent independently performs the full range of CT procedures, monitors patient safety during contrast use, and ensures high-quality diagnostic images for radiologist interpretation.
A REAL ID will be required beginning May 7, 2025, in accordance with 6 C.F.R. 37.5 (2021).
GS-8: Operates advanced CT systems, performs daily quality control checks, and monitors radiation dose indices. Performs CT exams of the head, chest, abdomen, spine, and extremities Knowledge of CT cross-sectional anatomy, imaging protocols, and radiation dose monitoring. Familiarity with safe handling of contrast media under direct supervision.
Involves adapting techniques for basic CT exams while working closely with higher-level staff GS-9: Performs advanced CTA exams of the head, chest, abdomen, and Multi-phase scanning protocols Complex imaging requiring adaptation for different anatomy and pathology, balancing image quality, radiation dose, and patient safety.
Cross-sectional anatomy, pathology, and CT imaging techniques Explains CT procedures, applies safety protocols, adjusting imaging protocols and reconstructing images as needed for various exams
