This position is located in the office of Response and Recovery, Response Directorate, National Watch Center The ideal candidate for this position will have impeccable customer service skills and experience working as a team member, serving as a geospatial analyst providing support to disaster operations, and facilitating program readiness and preparedness.
What will I do in this position if hired? In this position, you will you will be working in-person on a 5-person team to support the NWC's core function of gaining, maintaining, and conveying national-level situational awareness. Typical assignments include: Performing key program implementation of FEMA GIS initiatives and operations.
Performing activities in support of the NWC involving the agency's programs, including key project assistance in the development of program standards, doctrine, training, exercises, FEMA Qualification System (FQS) and program awareness throughout the agency Serving as a key resource on highly critical and complex geospatial program initiatives, with this role requiring frequent coordination with internal and external working groups and incorporating a wide range of stakeholder concerns in formulating and recommending solutions to problems that have agency-wide implications and may also impact GIS capabilities across departments and agencies.

Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites.
All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description.
Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions. Promotion Potential: Future promotions will be dependent on your ability to perform the duties at a higher level, the continuing need for an employee assigned to the higher level, and administrative approval.
