Job Summary
This position serves as a Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor in the Division of Facilities Management at Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area (SAMO), Pacific West Region within the National Park Service (NPS). The primary purpose of this position is to supervise the Buildings and Utilities Branch, which includes the operation, maintenance, repair and construction of all buildings, campgrounds, utilities, solid waste, water and wastewater treatment facilities.
Key Responsibilities
At the full performance level (WS-05) the major duties of this Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor position include, but are not limited to the following: Plan, schedule, and evaluate short- and long-term maintenance, repair, and construction activities for park buildings, utilities, and related infrastructure.
Supervise and develop maintenance staff by assigning work, setting expectations, ensuring safety, and monitoring performance across multiple trade Oversee and ensure completion of environmental and historic-preservation compliance requirements for maintenance and project work. Manage budgets, materials, and contracts by preparing scopes of work, estimates, procurement requests, and monitoring contractor performance.
Apply technical knowledge of building systems, construction methods, and material selection to inspect, direct, and verify high-quality, code-compliant work.
