Job Summary

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Commissioner located in the following locations: Washington, DC Chicago, IL Albuquerque, NW Houston, TX San Francisco, CA Salary: Salary listed reflects the rest of U.S. scale and, if applicable, will be adjusted to meet the locality pay or cost of living expenses of the duty location upon selection.

Key Responsibilities

This position serves as a technical expert in privacy laws, policies, safeguards, business processes, and initiatives, and leads efforts to ensure that sound privacy and information sharing safeguards and policies are in place, that critical privacy issues are addressed, and that business processes This position starts at a salary of $125,776.00 (GS-14, Step 1) to $163,514.00 (GS-14, Step 10).

Typical duties include: Asseses all relevant legal requirements regarding privacy and the unauthorized access of privacy information while also identifying privacy issues related to CBP programs and recommending appropriate privacy policies in accordance with federal privacy laws and DHS policies and procedures.

Evaluates the operational effectiveness of the collection, use, and dissemination of personal information and recommends technological and administrative measures to ensure the security of CBP data systems, processes and facilities.

Evaluates compliance with all applicable Federal privacy laws and regulations, implementing corrective, remedial, and preventive actions whenever necessary and determines whether the Privacy Act systems of records and other notices, and Privacy Impact Assessments are accomplished as required.
