Primary Purpose: The primary purpose of this position is to serve as an Air Reserve Technician (ART) and provide medical standards guidance, policy interpretation and application to Wing Commander, Medical Squadron Commander, unit health care professionals and unit medical support staff within the Reserve Medical Unit (RMU) and to Squadron commanders throughout the installation.
Duties: Plans, organizes, and implements medical standards activities, as well as providing consultative services on all medical standard issues, medical standards training, deployment processing, and other Aerospace Medicine Standards related topics. Performs administrative quality reviews of Duty Limiting Conditions (DLC), physical examinations, profiles, and appropriate clearances before these documents are forwarded to Squadron/Wing level offices.
Functions as the key focal point and functional expert for the analysis, interpretation, and application of medical standards to include waiver actions. Represents medical standards element with a variety of installation and functional area organizations. Conducts extensive studies and monitors compliance with medical requirements to ensure timely completion and medical qualification of assigned personnel.
FEDERALTIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. OTHER SIGNIFICANT FACTS CONTINUED: This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART). Work schedule will be aligned to allow incumbent to fully participate in aerial flight training and attendance to Unit Training Assemblies (UTA).
The incumbents' regular assignments are ART duties; however, the incumbent may be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities. OBLIGATED: This position is obligated to the former incumbent and has return rights to this position under 10 U.S.C. 1586. Upon the employee's return you are subject to being displaced from this obligated position.
