Job Summary

The Office of Inspector General (OIG), works within the U. S. Department of Transportation (DOT) to prevent or stop waste, fraud and abuse in departmental programs. This position is located within the Office of Inspector General, Assistant IG for Operations, Office of Human Resources and Training (OHRT).

Key Responsibilities

Major duties include, but not limited to the following: Process the full-range of federal actions (appointments, promotions, separations) via HRIS and eOPF per the OPM Guide to Processing Personnel Actions. Apply correct codes (NOAC, LAC) on SF-52/SF-50 forms, audit records, and collaborate with the NPRC for seamless folder transfers. Support Senior HR Specialists across the hiring lifecycle.

Maintain case files, draft job analyses, review position descriptions (PDs) using FES standards, and build vacancy announcements in Monster. Track background investigations, fingerprinting, and security clearances. Act as PIV Sponsor/Enrollment Official to issue, update, and manage federal smart cards and access credentials. Guide supervisors and employees through performance cycles, system troubleshooting, and award allocations.

Monitor timely execution of performance plans, midyear reviews, and final annual ratings. Act as primary point of contact for electronic time and attendance systems to resolve errors. Serve as a payroll liaison between OIG staff and DOI/IBC. Manage system access controls and user accounts to maintain system confidentiality. Provide technical assistance on HR systems and generate data reports, briefings, and presentations.

Coordinate the new hire onboarding program from tentative offer through EOD. Collect, review, and validate federal onboarding packets including OF-306, I-9 verification, and direct deposit forms and other pertinent forms.

There are no education requirements for this position. However, education can be substituted at GS-7 through GS-11 level.
