In this Human Resources Specialist position, you will become a key team member of Homeland Security professionals responsible for performing assignments requiring the application of fundamental principles, concepts, techniques and guidelines in a human resources specialty area. This position starts at a salary of $50,930.00 (GS-7, Step 1) to $66,210.00 (GS-7, Step 10) with promotion potential to $97,991 (GS-11 Step 10).

Major Duties: Applying a wide range of human resources management concepts, laws, policies, practices, and analytical/ diagnostic methods and techniques to address substantive technical issues or problems characterized by complex, controversial, and/or sensitive matters that contain several interrelated issues. Identifying, evaluating, and recommending to management appropriate human resources interventions to resolve interrelated human resources problems and issues.
Analyzing and researching a variety of HRM initiatives and utilizes a wide variety of learning methods, including technology-based methodologies, to provide consultative services. Reviewing and processing Veterans Preference to Delegated Examining, Pathways, Veteran's Recruitment Appointment (VRA) appointments and other excepted service authorities.
Identifying and proposing solutions to benefit problems and issues that are characterized by their breadth, importance, and severity and for which previous studies and established techniques are frequently inadequate. Term Appointments: To meet agency needs, this position will be filled under a time-limited appointment, not-to-exceed (NTE) two year(s), with possible extension(s) for an additional two year(s).
This is not a permanent appointment, and does not allow for conversion to a permanent competitive service. You will be separated when the NTE date of this appointment is reached.
