This position is in the Office of Finance and Administration (OFA), Office of the Chief Facilities and Security Officer, Research Triangle Park (RTP) Facilities Management and Services Division, RTP Facilities Services Branch. About this organization: OFA This is an office-centered position--you must physically report to the duty station stated in this announcement on a regular basis.
At the advertised grade, you will: Ensure personnel are following appropriate health and safety guidelines and are operating under approved health and safety plans with appropriate licensing. Prepare safety policies, procedures and guidelines, and develop and promote a safety training curriculum.
Serve as a technical authority on Agency, inter-agency, and National committees involved in analysis, development, evaluation, and promotion of comprehensive safety, fire, and occupational health programs. Develop and apply methods and abatements to control, mitigate, or eliminate unsafe conditions or industrial processes. Provide expert guidance on occupational health matters to senior leadership to minimize risks to employees and the surrounding community.
When entering a Federal job at a grade level lower than the highest promotion potential level, you may be promoted to more complex duties and work more independently, as your career progresses. NOTE: Career ladder promotions are not automatic, and all eligibility and qualifications requirements must be met in order to progress to the next grade level.

Industrial Hygienist: You must have a bachelor's or higher degree from an accredited or pre-accredited college or university in industrial hygiene, occupational health sciences, occupational and environmental health, toxicology, safety sciences, or related sciences; or a branch of engineering, physical science, or life science that included 12 semester hours in chemistry, including organic chemistry, and 18 additional semester hours of courses in any combination of chemistry, physics, engineering, health physics, environmental health, biostatistics, biology, physiology, toxicology, epidemiology, or industrial hygiene; or certification from the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH).
