Job Summary

This vacancy is for an Information Technology Specialist (Cyber Security) in the Technology Advisory Division, Office of lnformation and Communications Technology and Services (OICTS), Office of the Under Secretary (OUS), Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) within the Department of Commerce.

Key Responsibilities

As an Information Technology Specialist (Cyber Security), you will perform the following duties: Serve as a technical expert on the facts and issues associated with computer cybersecurity in a wide range of technology and services under the jurisdiction of the Department of Commerce. Serve as the Office liaison with industries on importation, acquisition or uses related to technology and services under the jurisdiction of the Department of Commerce. Integrate U.S.

industry's economic/regulatory concerns into the Departments regulations. Develop, revise, and write technical portions of agency guidelines that affect industries and other government agencies.

Work with senior BIS leadership to design and review requirements for technical projects to determine objectives of the program, concepts, nature of the unprocessed data, and processes required in support of the technology effort in order to organize work processes and problems for technology solution.

Develop and formulate, with general guidance from senior officials, regulatory policy, evaluation of trade, including imports or exports, and remediation of technical and policy disputes between interested parties. Review prior regulatory or policy-related cases for precedent history, approvals, and denials. Resolve outstanding interagency issues, rarely involving senior Departmental officials.

Establish and maintain contacts with manufacturers to provide technical advice for specific transactions and to remain informed on industry developments. Lead multi-agency working groups or task forces.

This Job Opportunity Announcement may be used to fill other Information Technology Specialist (Cyber Security), GS-2210-14, Full Performance Level (FPL) GS-14 positions within the Department of Commerce in the same geographical location or local commuting area with the same qualifications and specialized experience.
