Job Summary

The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), Office of Secure Transportation (OST) has the perfect employment opportunity for an Intelligence Operations Specialist (Secondary).

In this position you will directly be responsible for supporting the intelligence-based, operationally focused process that consists of the necessary analysis, impact determination and communication of Intelligence and Threat Information pertaining to the secure transportation of these national assets.

Key Responsibilities

As an Intelligence Operations Specialist, you will: Utilize a wide variety of sources to develop an intelligence base of information from which to draw inferences and summaries; prepare reports, assessments, materials for publication, statistical summaries and other material concerning the direct support of mission operations; provide forecasts of the level and types of activities that impact law enforcement communities; prepare technical guidelines and procedures for internal use and for user organizations; and support functions associated with characterization of Named Areas of Interest based on assessment, research and communication with appropriate entities internal and external to OST.

Conduct threat assessments, incident assessment and awareness, requirements for support from the intelligence community, and support efforts related to OST activities. Interface with OST's Office of Mission Operations for over-the-road mission operations supporting DoW/DoE site liaison, special mission security, and physical security of mission assets. Develops and/or supports the development of various types of daily, operational, and organizational assessments.

Routine works with the highest level of classified and other sensitive information. Such information is derived from liaison with multiple intelligence sources at the national level for input into NNSA programs. Information derived from sensitive intelligence must be accurately interpreted and sanitized to assure proper protection of sensitive intelligence source(s) and/or method(s).

Establishes, develops, and maintains effective association with national law enforcement, public safety, and military organizations to coordinate intelligence/threat assessments, on behalf of the OST Transportation Safeguards System (TSS). Establishes and maintains liaison with various agencies to deter, prevent, and defeat threats and aggression aimed at OST missions.

Maintain contact with senior NNSA management, contractors, and other federal, military, state, and tribal agencies, in the execution, evaluation, review and ratification of intelligence, counterintelligence and counterterrorism activities. Serves on committees and panels representing OST in these critical areas. Develops and conducts subject matter specific training for nuclear material couriers and other employees.
