The United States Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia's mission is to enforce the criminal laws of the United States and the District of Columbia, represent the interests of the United States in civil litigation, and respond to the public safety needs of the community by leading an effective, well-coordinated law enforcement effort that contributes to the overall goal of improving the quality of life in the District of Columbia.
If selected for this position, you will support the Sex Offense and Domestic Violence Section (SODVS), by performing a range of difficult and complex investigative analysis relating to legal matters of the United States Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia (USAODC). Typical work assignments will include: Plans and conduct investigative analysis of a range of complex and difficult matters relating to cases and legal matters of concern to the USAODC.
Determines matters of fact that relate directly to statutory and regulatory law, and the legal matters assigned to one or more or Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSAs). Analyzes evidence that comes from investigators, analysts, and law enforcement officers stationed throughout several states, and collects information relating to this evidence or legal matters under consideration from appropriate primary and secondary information sources.
Consolidates and synthesizes data relevant to USAODC operations collected from multiple sources. Identifies the need for further research, analysis or investigation and makes decisions concerning the consolidation and dissemination of information to various law enforcement agencies and other organizations. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
