As an IT Cybersecurity Specialist some of your typical work assignments include: Performing unusual or highly complex analyses of reliability filings and standards-enforcement activities related to cybersecurity issues affecting the nation's energy infrastructure and systems Conducting broad, comprehensive studies related to regulatory policies that have industry-wide impact, serving as a basis for senior management's consideration of changes in developing new cybersecurity guidelines, standards, and bodies of knowledge that shape Commission actions on emerging regulatory initiatives affecting the cybersecurity of energy infrastructure systems.
Serving as a technical advisor to all other organizational components in OER, the Commission, and other Federal agencies on matters of mutual interest concerning the energy industry, especially those related to cybersecurity of energy infrastructure and systems.
Serving as a technical expert in cybersecurity and electric system reliability and providing recommendations to the Commission on matters of national significance to strengthen the effectiveness of critical infrastructure protection programs Serving as an expert in cybersecurity policies and leading teams in conducting special projects or research studies, including participating in the development and review of Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) mandatory Reliability Standards, leading or conducting audits or assessments of industry/NERC compliance with CIP Reliability Standards and Commission Orders, and evaluating CIP reliability standard compliance enforcement determinations
