The Lead Transportation Coordinator (Beneficiary Travel Lead) works as part of the Beneficiary Travel (BT) section of the Veteran Transportation Service, Business Office (VTS) within the Amarillo VA Health Care System. The incumbent's main duties are to provide patient program support, program administration, administrative support, excellent customer service to all staff and veterans and perform other related duties as assigned.
The Lead Transportation Coordinator (Beneficiary Travel Lead) helps guide the daily operation of the unit, ensures that agency policies and priorities are being followed; and provides input on work performance of the unit staff. The incumbent gives advice, counsel, and training support and guidance to employees on both work and administrative matters.
The incumbent hears and resolves minor complaints from employees; refers group grievances and more serious unresolved complaints to appropriate supervisor or manager.
The incumbent participates in interview panels and resume reviews during the recruitment process for the Beneficiary Travel/Veteran Transportation Service (VTS) section; identifies and provides for training needs; and recommends to the supervisor, as a subject matter expert, ways to improve production or increase the quality of work within the area of authority.
Provide information to supervisor as requested concerning promotions, reassignment, recognition of outstanding performance, and personnel needs. Serves as the subject matter expert and trainer for the Beneficiary Travel staff responsible for accurately determining and/or verifying Veteran eligibility for travel reimbursement according to rules, regulations and standard operating procedures.
Conducts travel audits under the direction of the Compliance Business Integrity program. Arranges special mode transport for patients adhering to provider specifications of mode of transport and ensuring that mode is correctly denoted according to the patient's medical condition. Responsible for coordinating and/or writing replies to customer service and Congressional inquiries. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
