You will serve as a LIBRARIAN-ARCHIVIST in the NAVY DEPARTMENT LIBRARY of NAVAL HISTORY AND HERITAGE COMMAND.
You will use specialized knowledge of photographic archives, databases, and rights management to curate, catalog, and produce descriptive subject guides and/or finding aids for researchers and staff.
Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess 1410 Librarian: Completion of 1 full academic year of graduate study in library science in an accredited college or university, in addition to completion of all work required for a bachelor's degree; OR A total of at least 5 years of a combination of college-level education, training, and experience.
To qualify on this basis, the applicant must establish conclusively that the education, training, and experience provided a knowledge and understanding of the theories, principles, and techniques of professional librarianship; a knowledge of literature resources; and the knowledge and abilities essential for providing effective library and information services.
In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience: Education Substitution for Experience at the GS-11 Level: 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education in library science or doctoral degree (Ph.D.
or equivalent) related to the position Education Substitution for Experience at the GS-09 Level: 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education or master's in library science or equivalent graduate degree, e.g., LL.B. or J.D., related to the position. 1420 Archivist: Bachelor's degree in archival science or bachelor's degree with a major that includes 18 semester hours in archival science, history and/or in political science or government, and 12 semester hours in one or any combination of the following: archival science, history, American civilization, economics, political science, public administration, or government.
OR Combination of education and experience - at least 30 semester hours that included courses as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience: Education Substitution for Experience at the GS-11 Level: 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D.
