This position is part of the Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute, Bureau of Indian Education (BIE), Department of the Interior (DOI). As a Librarian you will be responsible for providing essential librarian and circulation functions for the college.
As a Librarian, GS-1410-11, your typical work assignments will include the following under supervision: Plan and teach classes on topics such as information literacy, library instruction, and technology use. Confer with colleagues, faculty, and community members and organizations to conduct informational programs, make collection decisions, and determine library services to offer.
Review and evaluate materials, using book reviews, catalogs, faculty recommendations, and current holdings to select and order print, audio-visual, and electronic resources. Promote and sponsor professional development activities, such as continuing education classes and or participate in conferences, workshops, professional meetings, and associations.
Plan and coordinate training for library staff, on topics such as receiving, shelving, researching, cataloging, and equipment use.
