The primary purpose of this position is to perform work involved in the identification, examination, classification, acceptance, and disposition of complex categories of materials and equipment. The position requires the use of fork lift trucks.
- Receives, examines, verifies, and identifies complex categories of materials and equipment, such as those which are toxic, radioactive, perishable, classified, high-valued equipment, precious/strategic metals, and complex electronic or mechanical equipment, assemblies, and components. - Maintains an aggressive surveillance inspection program on stored/on-hand items. Verifies items/equipment are properly identified and marked/tagged.
Ensures proper storage methods are being followed, such as stacking and binning, rotation of stock, temperature control, special storage requirements, and material handling practices, to maintain the integrity of the condition of items/equipment. - Receives, examines, and determines condition of a wide variety of complex items and materials to be turned in/removed.
Performs most complex disposal tasks, such as those required in dealing with reuse, salvage, and sales preparation of a wide variety of complex items and materials. - Monitors special programs, computerized listings, and documentation/records. Monitors the Repair Cycle, Time Change, and Time Compliance Technical Order (TCTO) programs. Ensures accurate identification of repair cycle DIFM items.
- Operates electric, LPG, or diesel powered fork lift trucks capable of lifting loads weighing less than 10,000 pounds as high as 168 inches. Maneuvers vehicle to load, unload, move, and place materials and equipment in narrow warehouse aisles, and on railroad cars, trucks, planes, etc. - Uses and maintains tools.
Uses precision measuring tools, such as calipers, micrometers, and multimeters, and other various measuring devices, such as depth, thread, and wire gauges and calipers, to inspect/examine electronic, industrial, construction, and other equipment and materials to determine improper assembly, repair needs, and potential equipment malfunction.
- Utilizes safety and security practices and procedures following established rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work area. Ensures that established procedures and regulations for warehouse safety and security are followed.
