VA Careers - Medical Support Assistant: https://youtube.com/embed/EE9c4XkaELo The Advanced Medical Support Assistant at the GS-6 level, provides specialized administrative support for mental health programs by collaborating with interdisciplinary care teams to coordinate patient care, monitor clinic utilization, and ensure efficient clinic operations.
Responsibilities include managing patient scheduling, clinic communications (including with VA and non-VA facilities), processing secure messages, tracking follow-up care, reviewing reports to optimize clinic resources, and maintaining accurate patient records.
Other assignments at this level may include, but are not limited to: participates in team meetings and huddles to plan and support patient care, verifies pre-appointment requirements, manages electronic waitlists, performs administrative follow-up actions, and educates providers about shared patients.
This position utilizes advanced patient systems, recommends procedural improvements, and exercises independent judgment to ensure high-quality, continuous care for veterans receiving mental health services.
