The incumbent serves as an Advanced Medical Support Assistant assigned to a Specialty Care Setting involved in a specialty outpatient clinic model. The Specialty Outpatient Clinic care team consists of a Specialty care provider (MD, NP, PA), registered nurse care manager, clinical associate (LPN or medical assistant/health technician) and an administrative associate (MA/MSA/health technician).

Employee must have knowledge of and ability to apply policies and procedures associated with operational activities that affect workload data.
The incumbent(s) must also have a thorough knowledge of multiple systems and current computer technology regarding imaging applications, PC Fax applications, and numerous VistA applications. Thorough knowledge of eligibility for VA medical care, priorities for care, release of information, Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPM) Laws, and the Medical Fee Basis programs.
Must have knowledge of and be able to provide information about VA Medical Care Cost Recovery Program to patients regarding insurance data collection and revenue collection. The incumbent(s) must demonstrate that they have performed duties related to these programs.
