This position is located in the Admiral Kidd Catering & Conference Center, MWR Department operating at Naval Base Point Loma, San Diego, California. The purpose of this position is to supervise the Facility Janitorial staff and to assist management in providing adequate and timely Janitorial services for the center.
Performs a full range of hands on supervision to include planning, work direction and administration up to three or more Janitorial staff. Conducts daily inspections of facility. Responsible for the overall cleanliness of the facility noting any deficiencies and promptly advising the Athletic Director of technical problem areas such as unsatisfactory conditions of showers and dressing rooms, facility furniture, any maintenance required, etc.
Conducts training on proper work methods and safety procedures. Fully implements all safety, fire prevention, MSDS and environmental/industrial hygiene requirements. Schedules Janitorial staff to ensure the high standards of cleanness are met. Determines and places order for cleaning supplies, materials or equipment that will be needed by the Janitorial staff and ensures items are available when required.
Ensures custodial equipment is properly maintained, stored and accounted for. Issues supplies to the staff as required. The incumbent is responsible for the security of all items in the storeroom and/or assigned areas. Investigates and prepares reports for staff mishaps/accidents. Forwards completed package to the immediate supervisor in a timely manner. Evaluates performance, recommends awards and/or corrective/disciplinary actions as required.
Ensures all requests for time off are forwarded to the Director in writing in a timely manner. Interview and recommend applicants for selection or promotion. Handles staff suggestions and complaints, resolving problems in a tactful and diplomatic manner, referring difficult and/or unusual situations to management. Performs other related duties as assigned.
