The District of Columbia Courts offers internships for students interested in seeking valuable experience in court administration. Interns have the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to the Court's mission to protect rights and liberties, uphold and interpret the law, and resolve disputes fairly and effectively in the District of Columbia. This internship is for Fall/Winter 2026.
Key Responsibilities
This position is an unpaid internship working with the Office of the Auditor Master. This division has opportunities in two areas: Legal and Accounting. Legal Intern The legal intern will assist the Auditor Master in processing cases in the area of probate, civil, tax & family law. The interns major duties are: Assist the team by attending and participating in status and evidentiary hearings.
Assist the team with researching legal problems and preparing memoranda for the auditor master. Assist in resolving legal issues affecting the audit and stating of accounts. Assist in the preparation of reports, which includes findings of fact and conclusions of law. Position is flexible to focus the duties to meet the interests and goals of the intern.
Accounting Intern The accounting intern will assist the Audit Master with the following: Preparing accounts Reviewing financial statements Determining values of assets and liabilities Identifying missing documentation Reviewing federal and local tax filings
