Job Summary

You will serve as a Park Ranger (Visitor Services Specialist)with US Fish and Wildlife Service. The Park Ranger will be responsible for day-to-day management and operational responsibilities of a large fee collection program, authorized by the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act. You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work.

Key Responsibilities

Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following: Recognize and institute correct procedures for collection of fees in the field and train/lead others to accomplish that task in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. Handle cash, checks, and credit cards to accurately complete standard mathematical calculations and make change under stressful conditions.

Operate electronic cash register, credit card machine, point of sales system, money counter, calculator, photocopy machine, typewriter, automated fee machine and computer. Review, develop and implement fee collection Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that ensure the integrity and accountability of the fee collection program. Use, maintain and analyze financial accounting software (e.g., Quicken) to track and reconcile pass sales.

Maintain and control the inventory of Refuge passes, Duck Stamps and Interagency Passes. Decipher regulations and policies related to natural resource management, visitor use activities and fee collection.

Requirements & Education

You must submit a copy of your transcript(s) to support claimed education if substituting education for experience. Transcripts must include your name, school name, grades, credit hours earned, major(s), grade point average or class ranking, and date the degree was conferred, if applicable. A typed list of courses, grades, semester/quarter hours, GPA, etc. will not be accepted. Non-submission may result in being rated not qualified for the position.

Unofficial transcripts are acceptable, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work.

Foreign Education: To receive credit for education completed outside the United States, you must show proof that the education has been submitted to a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign educational credentials and such education has been deemed at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education programs.
