This position is located in Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve, in the Interpretation Division.
The National Park Service (NPS) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to serve as the Division Chief for Interpretation and Resource Education at Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve and New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park in New Orleans, Louisiana. The park presently consists of multiple physically separate operating sites spread out over an area of 200 miles in Louisiana.
The Acadian Unit is composed of three visitor center contact sites: the Acadian Cultural Center in Lafayette, the Prairie Acadian Cultural Center in Eunice, and the Wetlands Acadian Cultural Center in Thibodaux. The Barataria Preserve unit is in Marrero.
The Crescent City Unit includes the Chalmette Battlefield and National Cemetery in Chalmette, the French Quarter Visitor Center, and the Jazz National Historical Park Visitor Center in the French Market and the Old Mint Visitor Center in New Orleans. There is also the Atchafalaya National Heritage Area.
The geographic area and operation for the park includes 24 Louisiana parishes comprising the "Mississippi Delta Region." The nature of park operations is to focus on the interpretation and preservation of the development of the cultural diversity in the Delta Region. As a Supervisory Park Ranger (Interpretation) you will perform the following duties: Developing parkwide policy, reviewing park operations, recommending management direction, goals and other objectives.
Formulates programs, reconciles and assures accountability of funds providing for the Division. Responsible for the full range of supervisory responsibilities. Works closely with park partners, local and state agencies, and cooperating associations to plan, collaborate and cooperate on a variety of educational, interpretative, outreach and safety issues.
Manages the parks interpretive and interpretative planning program, developing approaches to operations and leads special planning initiatives, i.e., commemorations, anniversaries, special events. Recruits qualified volunteers to provide interpretive and educational opportunities for the public.
This position does not allow substituting education for experience.

The posted pay range is $106437 – $138370/yr.
