Job Summary

We love our jobs. Do you? This position is located in the esteemed Architect of the Capitol, Library Building and Grounds, Maintenance Branch, Plumbing Section. As a Pipefitter Leader, you will troubleshoot, repair, and install pipefitting system components in assigned Capitol Complex work sites that include extensive grounds and arboretum, monumental historic buildings with a complex infrastructure.

The position is considered essential and is required to report during emergency closures.

Key Responsibilities

TOUR OF DUTY: Sunday through Thursday 1:30 PM -10:00 PM As a Pipefitter leader, you will lead, motivate, and work alongside journey-level pipefitters throughout the Library Buildings and Grounds.

Duties include: Relaying supervisor instructions to staff and demonstrating proper work methods Ensuring plans, blueprints, materials, and tools are available Reading and following complex blueprints and specifications Installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing systems, including systems in historical buildings Repairing sewage, water, gas, and steam distribution systems and associated fixtures Clearing clogged drains and repairing faucets, toilets, urinals, and related fixtures Leading and performing pipe replacement; repair steam traps and valves Cutting, threading, connecting, and fitting pipe using various joining methods and mechanical couplings Diagnosing, troubleshooting, monitoring, and maintaining systems using a Building Automation System (BAS) Using Web TMA and Mobile TMA to manage work orders and identify replacement parts Inspecting testing, repairing, and servicing fire protection systems per NFPA standards and local codes Completing electronic testing as part of inspection processes Performing brazing, soldering, and other hot‐work processes, including welding where permitted
