Job Summary

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Accountability, Performance Management and Analysis Division, located in Washington, DC. Additional selections may be made to include other organizational divisions and/or units within the duty location(s) listed above.

Key Responsibilities

Joining Customs & Border Protection (CBP), Office of Accountability, will allow you to utilize your expertise to serve as an advance Program Analyst responsible for providing analytics expertise to programs and offices across CBP. This position starts at a salary of $102,415.00 (GS-12, Step 1) to $158,322.00 (GS-13, Step 10).

Apply for this exciting opportunity to strengthen the Department's ability to perform homeland security functions by serving as an expert analyst on current analytical tools and techniques, advisor to CBP organizational elements on applying analytics to their challenges, as a reviewer thereof, and data expert to improve analytics with CBP Enterprise Services, as well as CBP Policy, resource, and operational problems and projects.

In this Program Analyst position you will become a key team member of Homeland Security professionals involved in leading, planning, developing, monitoring, coordinating, and implementing data analysis and data analytics projects to resolve critical operational, policy, and resourcing issues; analyzing agency administrative aspects of substantive, mission-orientated programs; and recommending and applying new hypotheses and concepts to improve effectiveness and efficiency of operations to resolve policy questions Typical Work assignments include: Applying expert data management and analysis techniques to study, gather, interpret, develop, and report on CBP operational, policy, and performance data.

Developing and preparing s a variety of dashboards, analytical reports, memoranda, and technical documents to assist ongoing monitoring, inspections, and assessment to improve Agency performance. Planning, researching, and implementing the full scope of data analytical projects requiring interpretation, inspection, research, and application of performance management data.

Providing expertise and guidance to staff and leadership on questions related to analysis and analytic methods involving performing quantitative and qualitative analysis, data quality assurance, developing graphics and reports based on the analysis and interpretation of data, and delivers analytical capabilities to operational offices.

Serving as project manager or office representative on multi-office teams and leading coordination of group efforts for cross-component analytics projects; developing and reviewing analytics pilot project plans and identifying areas of improvement in CBP self-service analytics capabilities and performance.
