Key Responsibilities

The following are the duties of this position at the full working level. If this vacancy includes more than one grade and you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform these duties and receive training to help you grow in this position.

Advises and assists management on changes to, and formulation and implementation of policies for IRS programs, processes, and initiatives to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of agency strategies and nation-wide operations.

Provides support on policies related to enterprise risk management, audit management and audit readiness, internal controls and compliance (e.g., OMB Circular A-123), corrective action planning and remediation tracking, and data reporting and system management to ensure consistency, accountability, and alignment with organizational objectives.

Assesses existing and proposed IRS programs and activities to determine their investment potential and contribution to the achievement of the mission and strategic goals. Identifies business, technological, and financial risks within ongoing programs and operations in meeting established agency goals and objectives, and serves as a consultant to support the preparation, execution, revision, and monitoring of management policies and initiatives.

Plans, conducts, and completes analyses of complex program and operations issues to provide IRS management with accurate and timely information and recommendations and works with them to develop and implement policy changes that support strategic planning and informed decision-making.

Uses information technology hardware and software to gather and interpret data and prepare reports, spreadsheets, flow charts, policy statements, action plans, milestones, and illustrated presentations for delivery to key strategic leaders. Serves as a project lead or team member on cross-functional initiatives supporting risk management, audit, internal control, compliance, and reporting efforts.

Coordinates with stakeholders to plan, develop, and deliver work products within established timeframes ensuring alignment with organizational priorities. Supports the implementation and continuous improvement of processes, systems, and tools used to manage risk, track audit findings and corrective action, and deliver training and guidance.

Requirements & Education

A college or university degree generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. For a list of schools which meet these criteria, please refer to Department of Education Accreditation page. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements.
