The Purchasing Agent position, located in the Prosthetics and Sensory Aids Service (PSAS) within the Prosthetic Service Line at the VA Oklahoma City Health Care System in Oklahoma City, OK. This position performs direct medical supply purchasing and inventory management support to the administrative and clinical services of the VA to initiate the obligation for all related requirements necessary to provide prosthetic and sensory aids services.

The major duties listed below represent the full performance level of GS-06. At the GS-05 grade level, you will perform assignments of a more limited scope and with less independence. You will progressively acquire the background necessary to perform at the full performance level of GS-06.
Promotion is at the discretion of the supervisor and is contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of higher-level work, and availability of funds.
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following: Initiates procurement of all outpatient medical requirements to include direct individual purchases to the Veteran, stock purchases for immediate availability, all medical surgical implants, and/or rental requirements associated with continual outpatient medical equipment and supplies Read, understand, and adhere to VA Provider Prescriptions/Consult to determine eligibility and entitlement of a Veteran's status for prescribed equipment Account for all expenditures and inventory working between two separate programs (purchase card and prosthetics program) Performs procurements through competitive open-market procedures or by placement of an order or blanket purchase agreement Solicits competitive offers, actively seeks new sources and potential vendors, and evaluates responses to bids and requests for proposal Compiles statistics and prepares reports on purchasing activities Performs other similar duties as assigned Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm Recruitment & Relocation Incentives: Not Authorized Critical Skills Incentive (CSI): Not Approved Telework: This position may be authorized for AD HOC telework.
