Located in the Records & Privacy Branch, RDD, ESD, Washington Headquarters Services (WHS), the Records & Information Management Specialist delivers technical and program expertise for the WHS RIM Program. The RDD develops records management policies for the Office of Secretary of War (OSW) and select, Defense Agencies and Field Activities. The incumbent supports the Branch Chief and WHS Records Manager in executing RIM requirements.
The Records and Information Management Specialist is responsible for supporting the Branch Chief and WHS Records Manager in executing OSW/WHS RIM requirements through the application and implementation of specialized knowledge of federal, DoW, and OSW/WHS records management policies and requirements.
Provides guidance on the implementation of federal, DoW, and OSW/WHS policies to manage the complete lifecycle of records-including creation, safeguarding, declassification, and final disposition-ensuring strict regulatory compliance. Conducts complex analytical studies and periodic evaluations of manual and automated record-keeping systems; assesses compliance with federal statutes to simplify how information is created, stored, retrieved, and managed.
Coordinates with the Washington National Records Center (WNRC), Federal Records Centers (FRCs), and NARA to streamline the OSD Records Transfer and Retrieval Program and assist researchers with document retrieval.
Utilizes knowledge of records management program and disciplines and identify procedures and methodologies that improve the effectives and efficiency in the life cycle management (creation, retention, maintenance, processing, use, access, release, safeguarding, declassification, final disposition) to ensure compliance with RIM life-cycle requirements.
Represents RDD on complex records and information management (RIM) issues; designs, coordinates, and delivers comprehensive records management training programs to WHS staff and supported personnel.
