You will serve as a Recreation Fee Technician at Carlsbad Caverns National Park. The primary purpose of this position is to perform a variety of technically challenging duties associated with the collection, deposit, tracking, and expenditure of fee revenue and donations collected from the public under the authority of Federal laws and regulations such as the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act (FLREA).
Major Duties:· Serve as a front-line, uniformed representative of the NPS, answering visitor questions and explaining the area's recreational opportunities, including NPS interpretive services, concession operated facilities and services, campground availability, hiking trails, etc. · Perform assignments in accordance with all NPS and U.S. Treasury regulations governing the handling of government funds.
· Operate an electronic cash register, computer, or Point of Sale (POS) system to conduct financial transactions; perform opening and closing functions; issue entrance receipts, tour tickets, permits, etc. · Inventory and/or restock fee program supplies and assist with placing orders and preparing requisition requests for equipment/supplies needed. · Assist higher level personnel with auditing fee collection program components/systems (e.g.
cash registers, road/trail registers, honor systems, automated fee machines or AFMs, donation boxes, etc.); assist in completing audit paperwork and documenting findings; communicate audit results to supervisor. · Prepare and complete remittance reports and bank deposits for funds donated and/or collected by others. Review shift reports and count funds collected; Investigate and proactively resolve routine or recurring discrepancies, and track overages, shortages, and errors.
· Review and verify the functionality of new fee related systems or modifications to existing systems as a result of regulatory and program requirements. · Provide informal and formal training and education to employees, partners, volunteers, interns, cooperating association representatives, etc. regarding automated and non-automated fee processes, systems, software programs, tools, etc.
This position does not allow substituting education for experience.
This position is with National Park Service, Department of the Interior.
The posted pay range is $45409 – $59031/yr.
