Job Summary

The Deputy Associate Director for Patient Care Services (DADPCS)/Deputy Nurse Executive (DNE) is an executive leader who innovates and ensures quality nursing practice across complex services and programs, influencing local and network decisions. Key Responsibilities

As the Deputy Associate Director for Patient Care Services/Deputy Nurse Executive, the incumbent provides executive leadership and oversight for the delivery of high-quality nursing care across multiple, complex patient care services and programs. This role collaborates closely with the Associate Director for Patient Care Services/Nurse Executive in strategic planning, organization assessment, policy development, and program implementation to advance Veteran-centered care.

The DADPCS/DNE exercises preliminary approval authority for job descriptions, policies and procedures, standards of patient care, practice standards, staffing plans, and performance improvement processes. Direct supervision is provided to Associate Chief Nurses, with oversight and accountability for all registered nurses, advanced practice nurses, and allied health staff 24/7, ensuring the highest standards of clinical practice and patient care.

The incumbent promotes interdisciplinary collaboration, integration of nursing services with other professional disciplines, and shared decision-making to achieve organizational goals. Additional responsibilities include ensuring compliance with accreditation and federal standards, fostering a culture of inquiry and evidence-based practice, and supporting ongoing professional development and educational advancement for nursing staff.

The DADPCS/DNE champions High Reliability Organization principles, focusing on patient safety, quality improvement, process innovation, and risk reduction. Serving as a vital member of the Executive Leadership Team, the incumbent actively contributes to facility-wide policy, planning, operations, and acts as a catalyst for organizational change, influencing policy at the facility, regional, and network levels through exemplary leadership and consultation.
