The Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center (VAMC) in Wichita, Kansas is currently recruiting for a Registered Nurse for their Quality Management Department. The primary purpose of the Patient Safety Manager (PSM) is the point of contact for patient safety policies and activities developed by the National Center for Patient Safety (NCPS) for the health care facility.
The PSM is a key person to help build and implement patient safety systems and promote a just culture of safety for VA patients and staff members in all settings, seeking guidance from the Chief or Deputy Chief of Quality Management as appropriate. This includes working with all levels of staff within the facility, including executive leadership, patient safety teams, and frontline staff members.
The PSM directs various patient safety activities throughout the facility including coordinating and serving as the recorder or advisor for Root Cause Analysis (RCA) teams. This includes monitoring implementation of RCA action plans. Duties include but not limited to: Providing support during internal and external accreditation surveys and survey readiness activities as it relates to the patient safety program.
Responsible and accountable for completing mandatory training in a timely manner and independently seeking additional knowledge and information necessary in order to fulfill the PSM role and responsibilities. Accountable and responsible for possessing the knowledge and skills to communicate and interact appropriately with all internal and external customers and to maintain confidentiality of electronic, written, and/or verbal patient/employee information.
