Job Summary

The Quality RN Consultant for Process Improvement (PI) is a registered nurse who is accountable to Quality, Safety & Value (QSV) Leadership.

In collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders, and using nursing process and process improvement principles, the RN Consultant practices in the QSV Department by providing coordination, implementation, and evaluation QSV program goals and other quality activities within the hospital and thirteen outpatient Community Clinics as assigned.

Key Responsibilities

Major duties include, but are not limited to: Data extraction, validation, dissemination, and management for end users, as well as consultation for improvement opportunities using process improvement skills. Partner with key stakeholders and initiate improvement efforts as needed.

Perform quality management and performance improvement activities in support of system improvements that ultimately are designed to improve quality of care and services provided, customer service activities, or other business procedures used by MVAHCS. Act as an inside consultant for an array of Quality Management programs within QSV and external consultant and process improvement/project manager to all other departments and services in the organization.

Active change agent and mentor related to Continuous Readiness, Process Improvement, and High Reliability, continuously seeking out ways to improve processes and patient care. Utilizes Lean principals, evidence-based practice, and other VHA-endorsed processes to promote process improvement.
