Job Summary

The Cincinnati VHA Medical Center is seeking a Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program Nurse in Mental Health Services at the Fort Thomas KY Location. The RN provides patient-centered and recovery-oriented care and maintains self-awareness while caring for patients living with substance use disorder and/or MH conditions. They will assist in directing the provision of nursing education, orientation, competencies and providing quality improvement and enhance outcomes utilization. Major duties may include but not limited too: Provides patient-centered and recovery-oriented care and maintains self-awareness while caring for patients living with substance use disorder and/or MH conditions. Facilitate shift reports, warm hand-offs, and nurse-led psychoeducational groups. Use therapeutic communication techniques, practice de-escalation techniques, utilize recovery-oriented language, and provide oversight of the patient safe medication management program.

Actively participates in MH interdisciplinary treatment team, patient safety and environment of care rounds, and responds to psychiatric and medical care needs and emergencies as directed. Reports safety concerns, and documents nursing assessments, risk screens, nursing plan of care, patient safety rounds, and environment of care rounds according to facility policy.

Maintains professional boundaries to protect patient vulnerabilities and act in the best interest of the patient. Demonstrates competence in practice and decision-making, deliberate planning, and critical thinking skills. Supervisory Controls: The incumbent is responsible to the assigned rating and approving supervisors and is accountable to the Associate Director of Patient Care Services (ADPCS). Work Schedule: Nights: 7:30pm-8:00am, 3 days/week, rotating schedule.
