Job Summary

**Open only to current permanent employees of the Oklahoma City VA Health Care system** The Oklahoma City VA Healthcare System is seeking a Registered Nurse for Nursing Service Acute Care. This position will float throughout the hospital to assist.

This is a Level 1b major interdisciplinary teaching facility with service-lines serving medical, surgical, and neurological Outpatients and outpatients, with a Level III Emergency Department, and multiple community-based outpatient clinics.

Key Responsibilities

Provides clinical support for Code Blue, Rapid Response, Code Stroke, and Code Purple. Assists with difficult IV placements utilizing Ultrasound-Guided IV techniques. Delivers support across all inpatient units, the Emergency Department, and the Community Living Center as needed for admissions, discharges, and direct patient care activities. Major Duties: Demonstrates proficiency in age-specific care, cultural assessment, and provision of health education.

Shows respect for cultural and spiritual values in all patient interactions. Functions effectively both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team. Exhibits self-direction when serving as Lead RN for assigned program(s), ensuring alignment with VHA and facility directives. Understands facility performance metrics and how assigned programs influence those outcomes. Demonstrates the ability to apply metrics to monitor improvement or sustainment of program results.

Actively participates in program-level quality improvement initiatives. Demonstrates leadership in meeting, reporting, and training others on program objectives and related metrics. Participates actively in customer service improvement processes and initiatives within the work area. Ensures efficient, effective, and electronic processes are maintained to support program management. Contributes to succession planning by training others within the assigned program.

Performs other duties as assigned.
