This position is located in FEMA's Region 7 Mission Support Division. The ideal candidate has experience in physical security, emergency management, and interagency coordination. Strong leadership, communication, security planning, and risk management skills are required. Must be able to obtain Top Secret-Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS-SCI) clearance.
What will I do in this position if hired? In this position, you will serve as a Security Specialist for Region Seven. Typical assignments include: Managing the Region-wide security program for classified National Security Information and sensitive unclassified information. Serving as the senior regional security advisor to FEMA and regional leadership on physical, personnel, administrative, operational, and related security matters.
Overseeing facility, access, and credentialing security, including Personal Identification Verification/Facility Access Card (PIV/FAC) issuance, visitor control, access control, alarms, surveillance, and regional facility security requirements. Conducting or directing security inspections, compliance reviews, and corrective actions to ensure adherence to laws, directives, executive orders, and FEMA policies.
Coordinating security awareness, incident response, investigations, and liaison activities with FEMA offices, law enforcement, and other federal, state, local, and partner organizations. Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description.
Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
