Job Summary

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Training and Development, Trade and Cargo Academy, located in Charleston, South Carolina. Additional selections may be made to include other organizational divisions and/or units within the duty location(s) listed above.

Key Responsibilities

This position starts at a salary of $125,776.00 (GS-14, Step 1) to $163,514.00 (GS-14, Step 10) with promotion potential to $163,514.00 (GS-14 Step 10). Major Duties Include: Serving as a principal expert advisor and provides authoritative guidance on the comprehensive development, strategic implementation, and continuous enhancement of training programs specifically tailored for basic training and a diverse array of other Customs and Border Protection (CBP) personnel.

Leading and directing high-impact initiatives specifically designed to significantly reduce the attrition rate through the systematic introduction and implementation of advanced training methodologies, the establishment of robust support systems, and the development of clear, compelling career development pathways that foster retention and professional growth.

Spearheading and directing comprehensive efforts aimed at substantially increasing the overall training capacity within the Office of Training and Development (OTD) and ensuring that CBP's frontline personnel receive timely and effective preparation.

Establishing, developing, and meticulously maintaining highly effective relationships with a diverse array of critical stakeholders, including senior officials within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), other Federal government agencies, various international, state, and local law enforcement agencies, and integral internal Customs and Border Protection (CBP) components.

Researching, analyzing, and meticulously preparing authoritative written materials that address complex training program issues and broader organizational policies, including comprehensive reports, detailed policy documents, and analytical briefs that inform senior leadership decisions and shape agency direction.
