This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment.

The incumbent of this positions provides intensive case management, intervention support, education, and outreach to VANTHCS staff, Veterans receiving services from VANTHCS and persons living in the VANTHCS service area. Duties may include but are not limited to: Senior Social Worker supports the SP program by connecting Veterans and their families with services and support across VA.
Provides services including suicide risk assessments and screenings, emergency, and crisis intervention, as well as monitoring and evaluating suicide data for investigation, reports, and quality assurance performance improvement projects and programs.
Expands clinical knowledge in the profession, demonstrating innovation in the creation of new models of psychosocial assessment or intervention to identify and address specialized clinical needs of Veterans experiencing mental health crisis. The incumbent independently conducts comprehensive assessments and develops treatment plans in collaboration with Veteran, family, and interdisciplinary treatment team.
Develops effective and strong relationships with community resources to ensure continuity of care and to promote successful transitions of services. Incumbent has advanced skills in community partnership building and can expertly represent the VANTHCS.
The incumbent develops and maintains effective partnerships with other VANTHCS mental health, severe mental health, substance abuse disorders, and suicide prevention leadership guidelines regarding access to VA mental health programs within VISN 17, including use of VA contracted care.
Responds to Veteran Crisis Line contacts, provides coordinator for these Veterans appropriate services, monitors Veterans who are flagged high risk for suicide, provides suicide prevention training within VANTHCS and out in the community, participated in community suicide prevention outreach activities assigned by the Program Manager, as appropriate assists with REACHVET processes, and monitors Veterans who are flagged high risk for suicide for mental health appointment follow-up.
