Job Summary

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount up to $200,000 & eligibility period one to five years are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application.

Key Responsibilities

The Licensed Senior Social Worker (LCSW) is assigned to the Mental Health Service and is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing social work activities in the Mental Health Residential Rehabilitative Treatment Program (MHRRTP), Domiciliary including clinical care and case management services.

The duties includes conducting biopsychosocial intakes, performing screening and/or assessment, supporting admission and discharge planning, providing individual therapy, providing group therapy, and providing case management services at an independent practice level. Also the LSCW will provide services to eligible Veterans to meet biological, psychological, social, and environmental needs within the Mental Health/Behavioral Science Section of the service.

The incumbent is required to interact not only with the patient but also with family, significant others, community agencies, and other staff.

VA Careers - Social Work: https://youtube.com/embed/enRhz_ua_UU VA Careers - Licensed Clinical Social Worker: https://youtube.com/embed/U_xC25QsN0wTotal Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Major Duties: Provide a full range of clinical services including diagnosis, screening, assessment, treatment planning, psychotherapy (individual and group) and case management services to a variety of Veteran populations including Veterans with trauma-related symptoms, substance use disorders, severe mental illness, cognitive impairment, homelessness and legal difficulties.

Manage an individual caseload of Veterans, provide individual and group therapy, contribute to milieu activities including leading group activities on a weekly basis and support program development for the MHRRTP. Develop, implement, and document the psychotherapeutic treatment plan for an assigned caseload of patients, including prompt completion of clinical reminders.

Facilitate discharge planning through collaboration with Veterans and their families as well as interdisciplinary treatment team members to ensure that appropriate discharge plans are executed in a timely manner. Provide consultation and education to Veterans and their families regarding community resources, VA benefits and specialty programs, and advance directives.

Perform mental status examinations and risk id evaluations including suicide (C-SSRS, CSRE, Safety Plan) and homicide risk evaluations. Communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing and serve as a liaison between veterans and/or their families, the VA and community resources in order to ensure the delivery of services.

Provide consultation services to other staff regarding the psychosocial needs of veterans and the impact of psychosocial problems on health care and adherence to the treatment plan. Complete assessments, have clinical understanding of complex diverse populations, and work independently with little oversight and supervision. Assist and provide cross coverage when needed across the Mental Health & Behavioral Science (MH&BS) as well as other collaborative duties as assigned.

Comply with CPRS documentation procedures, including timeliness standards for documentation (e.g. closing out encounters according to MH&BS and WPB VAMC policies). Completes clinical reminders in a timely manner and according to MH&BS and WPB VAMC policies. Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience. Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.

Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66. Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA.
