Job Summary
The Social Science Technician (Peer Support/Recovery Technician) performs a variety of therapeutic and supportive tasks that assist patients in articulating their goals of recovery, learning and practicing new skills and modeling effecting coping techniques. This position is located in the Social Services Department, Parker Indian Health Center, Parker, AZ. Position is temporary not to exceed 3 years.
A REAL ID will be required beginning May 7, 2025, in accordance with 6 C.F.R. 37.5 (2021).
Key Responsibilities
Serves as a recovery agency by providing and advocating for any effective recovery based services that aid in tribal member in daily living. Serve as a liaison to develop and/or foster tribal members' community integration and development. Inform tribal members about community and mutual support and provide guidance in the use of the recovery process. Provide ongoing individual and group sessions to articulate personal goals for recovery.
Maintain a working knowledge of current trends and developments in the mental health field. IHS Selectees whose duties and responsibilities require them to work permanently, temporarily, or occasionally in an IHS healthcare facility must comply with the IHS Employee Immunization Policy related to vaccine-preventable diseases, consistent with recommendations for healthcare workers.
Vaccine exemption requests may be available, as outlined in the IHS Employee Immunization Policy and facility guidance.
