Job Summary

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment.

Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

Key Responsibilities

Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Perform and oversee consultation and facilitation of agreements in coordination with the Office of Community Care for VDC. Develop, coordinate, select, and evaluate VDC in the WCHCS catchment area.

Collaborate with the other members of the healthcare team in the provision of comprehensive health care services to Veterans, ensure equity of access, service, and benefits to this population, and ensure the care provided is of the highest quality. Communicate and develop positive, effective relationships with all VDC stakeholders including Veterans, caregivers, local, state, and federal agencies, as well as non-governmental organizations.

Develop and provide any program reports to VISN and VA Central Office (VACO) for the Program and seek guidance from VACO program office, as needed. Perform a wide range of services and provide technical assistance to State, local, and private agencies. Observe and interpret trends and patterns; the application of guidelines; and the recommendation of program enhancements.

Perform work related to the review, monitoring, analysis, planning and assessment of each program under their authority as well as quality improvement aspects. Participate in direct Veteran and caregiver contacts to assess caregiver stress/burden and the development/application of directed clinical treatment interventions. Demonstrate professional judgment, including the knowledge of normal and abnormal behavior, through daily interactions with Veterans and caregivers.

Work with the partnering agencies to complete Readiness Reviews, provide consultation, and monitor of programmatic progress. Schedule, organize, and monitor community provider agencies to ensure proper program operations. Stay informed regarding current federal and state legislation directed at assisting Veterans to remain in an environment that is safe for both the Veteran and their caregivers.

Provide outreach presentations to community social service agencies, military Guard and Reserve units, Veteran Service Organizations, and other groups on VDC. Promote VDC in coordination with the local VA Public Affairs Officer through interviews with local print, voice, and television medica. Update others on local VA medical center programs.

Participate in direct Veteran and caregiver contacts to identify and assess Veteran needs and caregiver stress/burden, as well as determine clinical appropriateness for VDC Program enrollment. Learn current theory and treatment modalities by reading professional journals, attending conferences, clinic seminars and teleconferences, and materials distributed through VA and private sector sources.

Independently conduct psychosocial assessments and treatment interventions to a wide variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural, ethnic, educational, and other diversified backgrounds. Provide referral to VA medical and mental health treatment to other VA services including VA benefits, as well as community-based social services and other non-VA entitlement programs. Ensure policy and procedural compliance with the VDC program.

Initiate consultation with their supervisors and other authoritative resources at the Medical Center or Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN), Fiscal Services, Office of Community Care, and Regional Counsel when addressing unusual and/or complex administrative and clinical problems.

Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience. Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.

Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.
