Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations, Miami Field Office, Miami Seaport. Additional selections may be made to include other organizational divisions and/or units within the duty location(s) listed above.
This position starts at a salary of $65,735.00 (GS-09, Step 1) to $103,399.00 (GS-11, Step 10). Major duties for the GS-09 level include: Serve as an office manager and provide administrative analytical support for the organization. Ensure that office procedures and administrative controls operate smoothly and that details are not overlooked. Gather information, identify and analyze issues, and recommend solutions to procedural problems.
Prioritize calendar appointments and draft material for the leader to use in speaking engagements. Draft responses to routine inquiries concerning the supervisor's organization and program policies. Major duties for the GS-11 level include: Serve as an office manager, ensuring administrative practices and procedures are consistent with established policies, regulations, and organizational missions.
Act as a staff assistant to an executive senior leader, performing analysis and needs assessments to execute ambitious travel plans and maintain leadership connection with the field. Coordinate detailed travel planning, including aircraft and ground transportation, passports, and visas, while providing management advice on VIP travel-related issues.
Manage incoming and outgoing correspondence, reports, and suspenses, providing guidance to staff on the proper preparation and processing of written materials. Conduct research and participate in special management studies to identify, analyze, and recommend solutions to resolve internal management problems and improve organizational efficiency.
