This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: Establishes the Quality Management guidelines for the position of Staff Optometrist at the Orlando Veterans Affairs Heath Care System (OVAHCS). The incumbent reports directly to the Chief, Optometry Service, is responsible for providing ophthalmic services to eligible veterans. The incumbent practices in the Optometry Section of the Surgery Service.
The incumbent will be responsible for performing procedures that require an optometrist. The incumbent will provide special training and expertise in optometric procedures. Training includes but is not limited to routine eye, low vision, as well as contact lens examinations.
